Week of March 24th to 28th!

Hello Parents!
This week we explored some inventions we see and use in our everyday lives!  

During our class on wheels and bicycles, we created bicycles out of pipe cleaners. This activity involved the children listening and following instructions for each piece In order to put the bicycle together. We sang wheels on the bus and talked about how many wheels are on different vehicles.  



Twıs, twist, twıst.. lets put together a bıcycle with two wheels!

I introduced hot air balloon! Vocabulary included; balloon, aır, sky, clouds. To ıntroduce the ınventıon, I showed them a vıdeo about hot aır balloons and how they’re created.We sang up, up and away song and lıstened to a storybook song about traveling ın hot aır balloons We also watched we all go traveling by story. Thıs ıs a great vıdeo to watch together on the weekend!

We discussed the telephone, where they colored and laminated theır very own telephone! We discussed a typıcal telephone conversation introduction.. ‘Hello, How are you today?’ ‘May I please speak to..?’ We played the game telephone where a message is quietly passed on from one student to another. The last student has to say the original message!

Homework: I have sent home a page from the activity book. It ıs review about healthy food and how do you feel today? Please have them complete ıt and send ıt back to school on Tuesday. Week of March 17th to 21st!

Hello Parents! 
Our class started a new PYP unit called: Genius Devices.. 
Our focus this week was on Transportation!

Vocabulary: 

Train (engine,on the train tracks)
Airplane(fly, wings, In the sky)
Car (wheels, engine, on the road)

Let's build a train using foam shapes!

Wow! Great job Emre. How many wheels does your train have?






We used circles, squares and rectangles to build our trains!


On Tuesday, we went on a field trip to the Museum of Energy! We saw and learned about a lot of different types of energy and how we use them in our daily lives. We went to the oldest power plant in Istanbul! It is 101 years old and ran for about 70 years! It was so interesting!

Serra told us about how the big engines work to create  electricity power so you can turn on the lights at night in your house!
